Blue do us proud as we actually get some points

UNITED KINGDOMS best hope for years in the Eurovision song contest failed to win the contest but won the nations hearts for their attempt. With viewing figures up from the previous year all hopes were placed on Blue to bring back the coveted trophy last one by a UK entrant in 1997 by Catrina and the Waves.

Not all is lost though, their entry 'I Can' has been storming the European download charts placing it in the top ten on itunes in over 10 countries.

The bands popularity over Europe gave the country more hope than previous entrys and although they didn't win they managed to beat last years score of 'nil pwa' finishing on the left hand side of the screen.

With a political agenda it was never really a realistic target to win, and commentator Graham Norton proved this by guessing a good amount of voting results correctly. There was a new voting system put in place however which ensured countries other than those neighboring more countries than others would get points.

Official Blue twitter page posted: "We were really pleased with our performance and we hope the UK and our fans around Europe are proud of us. Thanks for all your support x."

Jedward were also deemed to be a success finishing just above the UK with their song 'Lipstick'. Another Itunes hit reaching the top ten on downloads and gathering them a huge fan base in Sweden where they currently reside at number one in the charts.
